The 1964 Alaskan earthquake, also known as the Great Alaskan earthquake and Good Friday earthquake, occurred at 5:36 pm AKST on Good Friday, March 27.[3] Across south-central Alaska, ground fissures, collapsing structures, and tsunamis resulting from the earthquake caused about 131 deaths.[4]

Mark the 60th anniversary of the Great Alaska Earthquake with an open mic discussion n the community room of the Seward Library & Museum at 7:30 pm Wednesday, March 27 in t he community room of the Seward Library & Museum. People can share their memories and view a slideshow of the artwork created in 1964 by Seward school students.

The next Thursdays: Our History program will feature Sue McClure, RBHS president, reminiscing about her Favorite Seward Oldtimers. The program will start at 7 pm April 18 at the Seward Community Library & Museum.
